As we emerged from Covid, we weren’t quite sure what to expect from 2022, but it’s been a really positive year for us in a number of ways. We’ve continued to grow our client base, especially in the educational and rental sectors, we’ve PAT tested thousands of appliances, we’ve tested hundreds of electrical installations and we’ve helped organisations across Cambridge keep their electrical safety in check.
In addition, through our website and social media we’ve attempted to help everyone to understand more about electrical safety, and to learn how to reduce their consumption and how to stay safe. Finally, we were thrilled once again to pass our Safe Contractor inspection in January, which we know gives our clients confidence and peace of mind.
We’d like to thank all our clients and commercial contacts for their ongoing support this year, and to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
A seat of learning
Within the educational sector we were delighted to welcome three Cambridge University Colleges – Trinity, Clare and St John's – as clients. They join our growing portfolio of University colleges, also including Fitzwilliam, Homerton and Wolfson, who now know that their sites are safe for their students, academic staff, administration teams, suppliers and visitors.
Safe homes for renters
During 2022 we’ve worked with a large number of landlords and letting agents to ensure that the properties they rent are safe for their tenants. This involves issuing landlords’ Electrical Installation Condition Reports – or EICRs – and undertaking PAT testing, all of which is now a legal requirement.
A helping hand
As well as carrying out safety testing, we’re keen to help everyone understand the world of electricity. During the year we explained more about RCDs, SPDs and AFPDs. We also provided some tips on taking control of your electricity usage and using extension cables safely. During 2023 we’ll continue to share our knowledge to promote greater awareness of the need for electrical safety testing and the safe usage of appliances and installations because that can prove to be a life-saver.
