Keeping electrical safety in check

Covid-19 and electrical safety testing

18th March 2020

At MS Electrical Services, we’re commissioned to work in our clients’ business premises and homes. As a result, in a commercial context we can come into contact with business owners, their staff, their customers and their suppliers. And when we’re testing domestic properties, we usually encounter the occupant or their representative as well as the members of their family who live there. Given this, we're keen to reassure all our clients that we take everyone’s health and safety very seriously.

In the light of the Covid-19 outbreak we're taking extra measures to ensure the highest levels of hygiene at all times. All our engineers are meticulous with their hand washing. They will wash their hands on entry and again when they leave your property.

In addition, Mark Smith, owner of MS Electrical, explains how the company is now preparing for each electrical safety testing appointment. 'Before we visit your premises we will ask you to confirm whether anyone present has travelled overseas within the previous 14 days and if they have, where they have visited,’ comments Mark. 'We will also ask whether - in the same period - anyone has been diagnosed with Covid-19, come into contact with someone who has contracted the virus or been advised to self-isolate by a member of NHS staff. In the current climate it would be ideal if the premises were empty during the testing, but we appreciate that this will not always be possible. Should it prove impossible, we will invite the occupant either to move to a separate office or room for the duration of the test or to remain at a distance of at least two metres. Should any of our team display any symptoms of Covid-19 they will immediately self-isolate in order to minimise any risk of further infection. We will then contact you to arrange a new date for the testing.

’This is clearly a challenging time for everyone, so we’d also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our clients for their continued loyalty and support during this unprecedented situation.'

At MS Electrical Services we offer PAT testing, fixed wire testing and emergency lighting testing in Cambridge, so please call us on 01223 850301 or complete our enquiry form to request a no-obligation quotation.

Testimonials

We recently engaged with MS Electrical to undertake our PAT testing. The service we received from Mark and his team was professional from the moment we contacted them, and they were so easy to deal with. The engineer on site was efficient and worked around the team to ensure minimum disruption. They certainly are highly recommended. Thank you MS Electrical!
