We are pleased to have been engaged to carry out the fixed wire testing for the Eddington Energy Centre. Eddington is a large new housing development on the outskirts of Cambridge, and the Energy Centre provides and controls the heating and hot water for all the homes on the site.

Given the size of the development and the reliance of every home on the continued supply of heating and hot water, this large project requires detailed planning. We need to divide the site up and organise shutting down each part in an agreed systematic process to ensure that the Energy Centre isn’t taken off line. The effect of that happening would of course be that none of the homes on the development would have heating and hot water.
For Mark Smith, owner of MS Electrical, projects such as this one enable the team not only to deliver best-in-class fixed wire testing, but to do so having planned the project in great detail. ‘When we approach a project such as the Eddington Energy Centre, we know that it’s not just a case of pitching up and doing the fixed wire testing,’ says Mark. ‘There are so many homes on the site – and consequently so many residents relying on the continued supply of heating and hot water – that we know that before we start work we need to attend site, meet with the client and put together a thorough plan of action. That way we all know which sections we’ll be working on when, and that ensures that the Centre can remain operational throughout.’
