Keeping electrical safety in check

Keeping electrical safety in check

Test and save

9th December 2020

Buying a property is acknowledged to be one of the most stressful life events, especially when you consider all the external factors that can have an impact on the transaction, so it’s important to make sure as many things as possible are working in your favour. In terms of electrical safety, we encourage all potential homeowners to engage us to carry out a fixed wire test to investigate the condition – and safety – of the electrical installation prior to exchanging contracts.

As well as offering a high degree of peace of mind, a fixed wire test can also arm you with useful information as to the condition of the fuseboard and the general wiring within the property. Not only that, if our test uncovers anything untoward, you’ll be in a strong position to present the report to the vendor or their solicitor and request either that they remedy any faults or reduce the asking price to reflect the cost of the remedial work that you will need to commission.

As Mark Smith, owner of MS Electrical, confirms, it’s vital to cover all the bases in any house purchase. ‘Having bought property in the past, I know how stressful the experience can be,’ comments Mark. ‘That’s why we’re passionate about offering fixed wire tests to anyone thinking of putting an offer in on any type of property. As far as we’re concerned it’s money well spent as the last thing that anyone wants is to get their hands on the keys and move in, only to find that the electrical installation is not fit for purpose and – in the worst case scenario – unsafe. We believe that a fixed wire test is an essential link in the property chain as it gives both purchaser and vendor confidence that there are no nasty surprises regarding electrical safety and allows them to exchange contracts in confidence.’

MS Electrical Services offer fixed wire testing in Cambridge, so please contact us to request a no-obligation quotation.
