At MS Electrical Services, the safety of our clients and contacts is our number one priority. We are therefore encouraged to see the government stepping in to issue a recall notice for up to half a million tumble dryers which present a fire safety risk.
The recall comes four years after Whirlpool issued their own warning on realising that their Hotpoint, Creda and Indesit dryers all had a fault which needed to be fixed. According to the government the fault in question - where lint can build up and come into contact with the drum and potentially ignite - had caused more than 750 fires during the preceding 11 years. In an attempt to facilitate the product recall, Whirlpool have requested that customers owning a Hotpoint, Creda and Indesit dryer contact them on 0800 151 0905 or visit their website as a matter of urgency.
Mark Smith, owner of MS Electrical Services, is reassured that the government is applying pressure in this area. ‘We spend our working lives helping keep our clients’ electrical safety in check, and we’ve been worried about the potential hazards that these tumble dryers present for some time now,’ commented Mark. ‘It’s better to be safe than sorry, so we'd encourage anyone who is any doubt whatsoever to contact Whirlpool to seek advice and take appropriate action.’
