We were testing a domestic fusebox recently and discovered that the RCD was faulty. It’s recommended to check the RCD once every six months to ensure that the electrical supply will trip should there be a fault. As well as preventing electrical shocks and fires, in the most extreme of cases this simple check could save lives.
As Mark Smith, owner of MS Electrical Services, explains, this simple test is one that shouldn’t be ignored. 'Our video takes you through the process of testing your RCD and demonstrates how this client was in danger of injury due to its failure,’ comments Mark. ‘Whenever we carry out a fixed wire test in Cambridge we stress to the householder or business owner that it’s vital to test the RCD twice a year without fail. However recent the electrical installation, there is always a chance that problems can arise, so we would far rather that clients carry out the test than find out to their cost how it could have prevented any incident that occurs.’
